The Lost City of Z
It’s been awhile since we watched an adventure story with beautiful cinematography, heartfelt story, and a well-paced plot that’s grabbed our attention much like this one. The Lost City of Z is a riveting adventure that reaches so many levels of success.
“A true-life drama, centering on British explorer Col. Percival Fawcett, who disappeared while searching for a mysterious city in the Amazon in the 1920s.”
Some have argued this to be the best Wolverine movie ever made. We couldn’t agree more. Logan is filled with as much action as heart, leaving viewers with a groundbreaking cinema achievement.
“In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X, somewhere on the Mexican border. However, Logan's attempts to hide from the world, and his legacy, are upended when a young mutant arrives, pursued by dark forces.”
Arguably the best movie of 2017, Dunkirk is an incredibly thrilling war story. With beautiful cinematography, a stellar cast of characters, and a soundtrack that will have you biting your nails, this is a movie that will not be forgotten anytime soon.
“Allied soldiers from Belgium, the British Empire and France are surrounded by the German army and evacuated during a fierce battle in World War II.”
The Lego Batman Movie
From title screen to the end credits, this movie is filled with laughs and impressive animation. One of the best animated movies of 2017, this one invites you to sit back, laugh, and enjoy a Batman celebration. Watch it without laughing — we dare you!
“A cooler-than-ever Bruce Wayne must deal with the usual suspects as they plan to rule Gotham City, while discovering that he has accidentally adopted a teenage orphan who wishes to become his sidekick.”
One of the biggest surprises of the year is Get Out, a horror movie with plenty of humor. Where Get Out excels is in the entertaining and tense plot that focuses on a specific kind of racism while tightening the tension with each scene.
